Music Monday Tribute to President Reagan

Ronald Reagan and Nancy Reagan waving from the... As I mentioned in yesterday's post, this is Reagan Week here on The Second Chance Sheepdog because this coming Sunday, February 6th, would be President Reagan's 100th birthday. For today's Music Monday, I have chosen a video (see below) for a song that was released in 1984 and was played at the 1984 Republican National Convention when President Reagan accepted the nomination to run for re-election. The song is well known and considered by many to be one of the greatest patriotic songs ever written.

I doubt Lee Greenwood had any idea how popular God Bless the USA would become when writing and recording it. It was on his You've Got a Good Love Comin' album and reached #7 on the charts. We each get a lump in our throat each time we hear the song. After the debacle of the Carter Administration, Reagan was the right president at the right time. He united the country and restored it's pride and economy. I cannot think of a better song to dedicate to his memory as we approach his 100th birthday. Mr. President, we thank you for the memories and all you did to serve your country. Happy Birthday. You are sorely missed.

P.S. My e-mail subscribers can view the video by clicking here.
