Team Tennessee athlete set U.S. record in Madison

In addition to winning four medals in the 2010 U.S. Transplant Games, Vicki Geist, of Team Tennessee, set a record in the 400-meter run. She lives just outside Knoxville and attended The Games for the very first time this year. It was partly due to the fact that her son her told her that she wasn't "athletic." So, she set out to prove him wrong. Hopefully, he has enjoyed "eating crow."

Vicki was one of my Team Tennessee teammates. It was a pleasure to get to know her and her family while in Madison. I knew she had done very well, but I did not know she had set the 400 meter record. Congratulations to her. She earned it. You can read the entire story on KnoxNews.com titled "Organ Transplant Recipient Sets Record as She Realizes Dream" here.
