Double-Lung Transplant Recipient Completes NYC Marathon

A little over one year ago, Tim Sweeney beat a horrible disease, cystic fibrosis, through the blessing of a double-lung transplant. At the young age of 33, the disease had robbed him of 80% of his lung capacity and he was slowly dying a miserable death. Due to the "second chance" he received, Tim completed his first ever New York City Marathon about two weeks ago. According to the story, Double-Lung Transplant Patient Tim Sweeney Finishes Full New York City Marathon in 7 Hours, on NYDailyNews.com, Tim's transplant surgeon completed the marathon, too, running alongside him every step of the way.

Thanks to the generosity of an organ donor, Tim accomplished something that few of us ever will, completing a marathon. There are thousands of other Americans currently needing a "second chance," too. You can help them by choosing to be an organ and tissue donor. Please visit the Donate Life America website. Then, click on "Commit to Donation" and then on your state to find out how to sign up to be a donor there. Give the Gift of Life.
