"The biggest problems that we're facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all. And that's what I intend to reverse when I'm President of the United States."Barack Obama, March 31, 2008
Hmmm. Interesting. By now, I'm sure most have heard at least a little of the controversy concerning the more than three dozen "Czars" that Mr. Obama has appointed since his inauguration. Normally, the term "czar" is thought of negatively as people normally think of Russia. The White House claims that Obama has no Czars but many "special advisors." That's interesting considering that Obama himself referred to Gil Kerlikowske, whose official title is Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, as "... the drug czar."
So what's the big deal with Obama's Czar's anyway you might ask ?? The big deal is :
- there is NO consitutional authority for the czars,
- they are not subject to congressional oversight,
- not subject to Senate confirmation,
- not subject to congressional questioning,
- report ONLY to the Czar Organizer in Chief himself,
- some of them have radical leftist beliefs and associations,
- most of them draw six-figure salaries costing us, the taxpayers, at least $4 Million this year.
Tomorrow, I'll provide you with the exhaustive "Czar-castic" list.
