It been a while since The Sheepdog's Music Mondays have featured a Christian artist. So, I decided that since today is a "double shot" day, I'd play catch up. I liked what I heard from today's band, when I first heard them after they released their self-titled first record in 2004. Their sound reminded me a lot of one of my favorite bands from the '80s, Vixen. The two bands' musical style is similar, but their song lyrics and message is much different. BarlowGirl achieved a lot of success very quickly.
BarlowGirl's biggest hit to date has been their single "Never Alone." The song spent a long time at #1 on both the Radio and Records Christian Hit Radio and the Christian Rock charts in 2004. In fact, both charts gave the song their Song of the Year Award. The video is embedded below or can be watched by clicking here.
Video #2 today is of BarlowGirl's other huge hit. It was recorded on their 2005 album, Another Journal Entry. The song is "I Need You to Love Me", and it was released as a radio single in the spring of 2006. It went on to spend 13 weeks at #1 on the Christian Radio and Retail Weekly Christian CHR Chart. BarlowGirl's quick success led them to be the 2nd-most played Christian artist of 2006 behind only Sanctus Real. The video is embedded below or can be watched by clicking here.
