Memphis Redbirds hosting Organ Donor Night

Suite seatsImage by theogeo via FlickrThe Memphis Redbirds are having Organ Donor Night on August 13, 2011 at AutoZone Park in Memphis. Game time is 6:05 PM CDT. Fans will be encouraged to register as organ and tissue donors at the game. The National Foundation for Transplants will have a table set-up to register interested fans. Fans who either register at the game or show that they have already registered will be entered into a drawing for prizes including a keyboard and an autographed team jersey.

In addition, the Redbirds will wear organ themed jerseys that night, a silent auction will be held on those jerseys, a transplant recipient will throw out the first pitch, and a fireworks show will take place after the game. It should be a fun night to support a great cause. If you live in the Memphis area, please go check it out.

Hey Sheepdog,

I follow all your posts, from politics to racing and everything in between. It's all good stuff!!!

I'm a few days late with this comment as we've had the grand kids here for a week and it's been exhausting chaos, that I wouldn't trade for anything.

Wanted to make a quick comment on the Memphis Redbirds and their Organ Donor night ...... AWESOME!! I've got a special place in my heart for the organ donors of Tennessee, as I've heard, unofficially, that's where my heart MAY have come from. And, since my transplant, I've had this inner "urge" to go to Memphis.

I hope their evening was a major success.

Be well, my friend.

HeartBeat,

I appreciate you being so loyal in reading all my posts. I'm glad you enjoy them.

In regards to the Redbirds game and organ donor night, they haven't had it yet. It's 2 weeks from tonight on Saturday, August 13th. So, if you wanted to check it out, you've got time.

If indeed you heart came from someone in TN, I wouldn't be surprised. We aren't called "The Volunteer State" for nothing !! If you are ever down this way, shoot me an e-mail and maybe we can catch up and grab a bite to eat while you're here. Especially if your through the Nashville area.

The Sheepdog.
